An Ode to Commodity Fragrances
What drew us to Commodity was the way the brand seems to think beyond fragrance as a single-sense object. There is perfumery in the obvious sense, but also architecture in the way projection is considered, food in the way ingredients and composition are described, and design in the way each scent is made easier to understand.
Scent Space made that especially clear to us. It introduces distance, presence, and social context into the experience of fragrance, asking how close a scent should stay to the body and how far someone wants it to travel into a room. It is a small shift in language, but it opens up a much larger way of thinking about scent.
That interdisciplinary approach is close to how Ode works. We are interested in what happens when one sense starts to implicate another, and when something subjective can be given enough structure that people begin to notice their own preferences more clearly.

At Raison d’Être
Commodity will host an interactive session during the City Loop. Later in the evening, the idea will carry into the multisensory dinner through a separate integration, with select guests receiving Commodity gifts to continue exploring at home.

About
Commodity is a modern American perfumery founded in 2013 and built as a digitally native fragrance brand. Led by Re-Founder and Creative Director Vicken Arslanian, whose background spans perfumery and architecture, the company brings together craft, design, and storytelling. Fragrances such as Milk, Gold, Book, and Paper are named to offer a simple sense of what is inside, while Discovery Kits and its docuseries make the process of fragrance easier to explore and understand.
