An Ode to International Center of Photography
What drew us to the International Center of Photography is the way photography can make something visible without showing it directly.
A photograph can suggest taste through gesture, sound through movement, touch through texture, time through accumulation, or system through repetition and structure. That feels especially relevant to Raison d’Être, where guests are being asked to notice how perception travels across senses rather than staying neatly within one.
At ICP, the camera becomes more than a recording device. It becomes a way of deciding what is worth noticing, what belongs inside the frame, and what can be understood through trace, atmosphere, distance, light, or absence.
